Why is Hertz offering FREE cars to our troops returning from Iraq?

The idea began with the company's own employees who had served in the military and who wanted to give back to those who have fought so hard for our country.   Together, we can all celebrate their homecoming and say THANK YOU!  Let our troops know we are grateful for their bravery, sacrifice, and service..

Who receives the rental car vouchers?

The vouchers are intended for returning active duty servicemen or servicewomen from Kuwait, Iraq, and Afghanistan, who have served our country so valiantly. 

What type of rental car will be given away?

Hertz will give away 40,000 vouchers. Each one is good for a 3-day consecutive weekend rental on a midsize car at any corporate (participating) Hertz airport or neighborhood location in the United States.  There will be no blackout dates, but redemption will be subject to car availability.  Please refer to voucher for terms and conditions.

When does the offer expire?

Vouchers are good for 18 months, and will expire on June 30, 2013.

Are the vouchers transferrable?

Yes.  They are printed on security paper but are not restricted to the recipient – so they can certainly be used by another traveler.  Unfortunately, if they are lost, we cannot replace them.

What are the age restrictions?

Active Duty Military 18 years of age and above are eligible for this program with the presentation of their Active Duty Military ID Card at the rental counter.  If the voucher is transferred to a non-Active Duty person, the age requirement is 20.

I am a Military Member.  How do I receive a free rental?

Hertz has sent all 40,000 vouchers, intended for veterans who have recently returned from Iraq and Afghanistan, to NDTA for distribution.  Qualification and verification criteria are being established by NDTA.  Due to limited supply, vouchers will be available only while supplies last.  Check back for updates. 

What rentals will qualify for contributing towards this program?

Every completed transaction will help reach the goal of providing 40,000 free rentals.  All transactions – from Hertz.com, at any Hertz Rental Counter, through Hertz phone reservations, through social media, through travel agents, through all channels – will qualify. 

In addition, transactions from Hertz on Demand, Hertz Equipment Rental, Hertz Car Sales, and Hertz Entertainment Services will be included.  The entire company is behind the effort.

What part of my rental actually goes towards this benefit?
For every transaction made through 12/31/11, Hertz will donate 1% of proceeds towards our goal of 40,000 free weekend rentals.  We look forward to serving our troops, after all they’ve done to support us.

NDTA is proud to partner with Hertz for the benefit of our troops.
